ROTOWIRE
Five saves in loss
Kobel made five saves during Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Ajax.
Impact
Kobel conceded four goals and still put together a very strong performance. With a lesser keeper in net it would have likely been seven or eight goals conceded. Kobel is still a top option, but with the makeshift defensive unit in front of him he loses some value in high-profile matches.

Dealing with knee issue
Kobel is not playing with his national team because of a knee issue, reports Ruhr Nachrichten.
Impact
This doesn't sound like something that will keep Kobel out in two weeks, but it's worth monitoring. He's getting some added rest over the break ahead of the Oct. 16 game against Mainz. He's managed just one clean sheet this season which came at home against Sporting CP in UCL.

ROTOWIRE
Maintains clean sheet
Kobel maintained the clean sheet during a 1-0 win Tuesday versus Sporting CP.
Impact
Despite conceding at least one goal during Dortmund's seven previous league-based games, Kobel recorded his first team clean sheet and will have favorable chances to maintain multiple across October. He is a promising option Saturday (Oct. 2) versus Augsburg.

ROTOWIRE
Secures win with two saves
Kobel registered two saves while conceding one goal in Wednesday's 2-1 victory of Besiktas.
Impact
Kobel's first save of the match was a phenomenal one-handed save that likely would have shifted the momentum of the match if it had gone in. The keeper has allowed 10 goals and made 11 saves in five matches across all competitions this year and should continue to feature for the club heading into Sunday's domestic tilt versus Union Berlin.

Concedes twice in win
Kobel allowed two goals while making three saves in a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim on Friday.
Impact
Kobel is nothing if not consistent, having given up two goals in each of the first three contests. The keeper appears to have cemented himself as the No. 1 choice for Borussia Dortmund over Roman Burki but will likely be on a short leash.

Joins Dortmund
Kobel moved to Borussia Dortmund from Stuttgart on a five-year contract, his new club announced Monday.
Impact
Kobel conceded 54 goals in 33 starts during the 2020/21 season, but played in a team that focused more on its attacking strength than its defensive stability. Goalkeepers who have multiple seasons under their belt as starters seldom agree to long contracts without seeking out a starting job, so one of Marwin Hitz or Roman Burki may have to make way for Kobel's arrival. This doesn't mean Kobel will start initially but hanging onto three goalkeepers who have started in the Bundesliga likely isn't good for business or team chemistry.

Back in net Saturday
Kobel (back) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Gladbach.
Impact
Kobel returns to the squad Saturday after a one-game absence because of back problems. While he should be in play for multiple saves, he's allowed multiple goals in each of his last four starts and Monchengladbach could have some success against this back line.
