Hector Herrera - Out with knee injury Herrera was not an option during Saturday's 1-1 draw to Sporting Kansas City with a knee injury, per Victor Araiza of Deportes Nation.
Impact Herrera was one of the league's best midfielder during the 2023 season, starting 34 of the 35 matches played in MLS, averaging about 5.7 crosses, 3.3 corners and 2.2 shots per match. He had been playing the defensive midfield position in the 4-2-3-1, however with Houston starting the year with a 3-5-1-1, Herrera will likely play a more offensive role in the midfield, with Brooklyn Raines taking his spot in the lineup during his absence.

Sebastian Kowalczyk - Active display against SKC Kowalczyk had four shots (one on target), created two chances, sent in four crosses (one accurate) and suffered three fouls during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City.
Impact Kowalczyk had a very nice performance during the season opener, being involved in many dangerous plays and benefiting from the freedom he had to roam behind the striker. The playmaker struggled to settle after signing with Houston back in August but hope is that he'll do much better in his first full MLS campaign.

Steve Clark - Concedes one in season opener Clark made one save and conceded one goal during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City.
Impact Clark couldn't do much to stop Erik Thommy's well-placed shot into the far post just past the hour mark and then didn't have any work to do during the rest of the contest as his team dominated the opposition most of the time. The goalkeeper set very high standards with his performances from last season and he'll try to help his side get their first win of the year during next Saturday's clash against New York Red Bulls.

Ibrahim Aliyu - Logs assist versus SKC Aliyu made an assist and created two chances during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City.
Impact Aliyu had the chance to start after finishing the previous campaign as a reserve and made most of the new opportunity, assisting Gabe Segal's equalizer in the 69th minute. With Nelson Quinones (leg) set to miss the entire season, Aliyu looks like a full-time starter for the foreseeable future.

Gabe Segal - Scores off bench in Dynamo debut Segal scored a goal off his lone shot after coming off the bench during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City.
Impact Segal made his debut with Houston, being brought as part of a double substitution midway through the second half. And the forward needed just two minutes to make an impact, appearing completely unmarked at the far post to head home a pass from the left flank. After a quiet campaign with NYCFC last year, Segal will hope this goal is a sign of better things to come for him.

Carlos Sebastian Ferreira Vidal - Set for extended absence Ferreira (hamstring) is set to miss a significant period of time with a hamstring injury, according to manager Ben Olsen.
Impact Ferreira suffered the hamstring injury in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and is now set for an extended spell on the sideline. It's not clear how long he will be injured but a hamstring injury is never a good sign. Ibrahim Aliyu could move into the starting XI with Ferreira on the sideline.

Tate Schmitt - No longer injured Schmitt (knee) has recovered from his injury after making the starting XI in Tuesday's Concacaf Champions Cup 2-1 loss to St. Louis.
Impact Schmitt will now be an option for the first game of the season against Kansas City on Saturday, having finally recovered from a knee issue that caused him to miss almost all of last season. The defender should now be expected to start on opening day, as he started in all five contests when available in the previous campaign and was starting in his first game back Tuesday. He will now hope to avoid another long absence due to an injury, as he is yet to serve a full season as a regular starter and is in line for that this campaign.

Carlos Sebastian Ferreira Vidal - Exits early Ferreira was forced off in the 23rd minute of Tuesday's 2-1 loss to St. Louis in the Concacaf Champions Cup due to an apparent injury.
Impact Ferreira looks to have picked up an injury just days before the season opener. This is a tough break for the forward, but he may not affect the club all that much, as he is not a regular starter and only appeared in 11 contests last season, with only two of those being starts. He will look to have a speedy recovery but most likely won't be an option for their first match of the season against Kansas City on Saturday, as just three days of recovery will probably not be enough.
