Falls to bench recently Schlupp had started in all 15 of the club's first 17 games he was available for but recently has fallen to the bench, only starting once in the club's past four contests. Impact Schlupp has been a regular starter over the past three seasons and for most of this year's campaign for Palace, but recently, he has maybe fallen out of favor, only starting once in the club's past four matches, going completely unused in one of those contests. The recent move to the bench is most likely due to the team changing formation as before, they mainly used a 4-2-3-1 and have now switched to a 4-3-3 in all the matches he has missed, with Michael Olise and Jordan Ayew being the preferred selections as the wingers when they are put in more of an attacking role. However, with Ayew out due to international duty and Olise being a game-time decision due to a hamstring issue, Schlupp will hope to earn his spot back in the club's next contest against Sheffield on Jan. 30. If he wants to hold onto that position, he will also have to do better in the final third, only having two goal contributions on the season.
