Impact Lappalainen has found his new club after exiting Montreal following the end of the season, continuing his time in MLS with Columbus. He signs on a one-year deal, holding a club option for the 2026 season. He held injuries for much of the last season, only starting in one of his 11 appearances while earning an assist in 2024. He does have a decent stat line throughout his six seasons with Montreal, starting in 62 of his 99 appearances to go along with 15 goals and 15 assists and once being a consistent starter in the 2022 season. However, with constant injuries being an issue over the past two seasons, he will likely have to fight for a starting role to begin, with the lack of trust in his health possibly demoting him to a rotational role.
