Bench option in Berlin Benes scored twice and provided one assist in 23 appearances (three starts) for Union Berlin.

Impact Benes made the switch to Union from Gladbach and remained a bench option for the most part, playing only 573 minutes. He was relatively efficient during those minutes, but still didn't earn a larger role. The midfielder should remain a depth option next season.

Impact Benes was unable to get going on Saturday as the home side fell to Heidenheim 3-0. In 71 minutes played, the attacking midfielder created zero chances, put zero shots on target, made just three passes into the final third, and was inaccurate with his only cross. It was just Benes' third start of the Bundesliga campaign, and it remains unclear whether he will get the starting nod this Saturday against Augsburg.

Impact Benes scored his first goal since the opening match of the season Saturday and it came at a great time. Immediately after subbing onto the pitch he slotted a strike into the top right corner in the 84th minute off a Tom Rothe assist, tying the match at 2-2 and stealing a point from Werder Bremen. It was the only shot he took in his seven minutes off the bench.

Impact Benes entered the match in the 75th minute and set up Tom Rothe in the 89th to assist an insurance goal for Union. The assist was the first goal involvement since August for Benes who has started in just one of his six Bundesliga appearances this season.
