Tests positive for COVID-19 Goretzka has tested positive for COVID-19, it was announced Wednesday. Because of his situation, Goretzka will leave the German national team in order to enter isolation.

Impact Goretzka has started in two of the last three matches between the league and UCL, taking 10 shots and making eight tackles in that time. He should have enough time to recover for the Sept. 30 match against Bayer Leverkusen but that depends on how long it takes him to test negative and return to training. Should he be held back, Marcel Sabitzer should return to the lineup in a deep-midfield position.
