Out due to transfer rumors Chioniere (not injury related) is out for Saturday's match against New England.

Impact Chioniere will not be an option Saturday, with the midfielder nearing a transfer to Europe that seems likely to take place any second. He appears to be set for a move to Switzerland, although this is still up in the air. However, this will be a big loss for the club if it comes to fruition, as despite the finical gain, he is one of their best players and has started in all 17 appearances this campaign. It appears that Bryce Duke is a solid contender to take his spot.

Impact Choiniere was held off the scoresheet, but did lead Montreal with two chances created in the match. The midfielder has combined for a shot, three chances created and six tackles over his last two matches since returning from Copa America and has chipped in with a partial role on corner kicks.

Impact After missing the last eight games due to Canada's unexpectedly deep run in Copa America, Choiniere finally returned to MLS action Wednesday. His return did not get off to a great start though as he scored an own goal in the 75th minute. Impact Choiniere was part of the Canadian team that finished fourth during Copa America. The midfielder is set to return to the starting XI with his club team with two goals and one assists in 15 starts.

Called up by Canada Choiniere will be out for around the next month after being called up by the Canadian national team for Copa America.

Impact Choiniere's absence will leave Montreal without one of their starting midfielders until at least the start of June, and possibly even later, depending on how far Canada makes it in the tournament. This will likely leave Nathan Saliba to serve in his place while he is out, although Choiniere will likely gain back the starting role once he returns to Montreal.

Impact Choiniere wasn't really missed in the 2-2 draw against Philadelphia, as his replacement, Dominik Yankov, delivered a good performance and set up one of the goals in the draw. Choiniere was called up for the Canada friendlies against the Netherlands and France on June 6 and June 9, respectively, and all signs point to him playing in the 2024 Copa America. If that's the case, then he'd return to Montreal later in June and not right after the current international break.
