Impact Sommer had to miss the group stage finale against Serbia but fortunately his team still secured their advancement. He only conceded one goal in two games against Brazil and Cameroon so Sommer could have what it takes to slow down Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal team as well.

That said Friedrich has just two clean sheets in those 14 appearances as Gladbach have occasionally struggled with lapses defensively.
