Mitja Ilenic - Demoted to bench role Ilenic ended the year making 13 starts in 22 appearances during his first season with New York City F.C.

Impact Ilenic had only got the start while Tayvon Gray was injured. Since then, he had only been a bench option, recording two assists in 43 crosses (eight won) and 27 tackles (16 won). The defender will see competition with goth Gray and Kevin O'Toole for a starting outside back role with the team.

Kevin O'Toole - Impressive to end season O'Toole will end the 2023 season making 12 starts in 21 appearances with New York City F.C.

Impact O'Toole had won the starting left back role over Braian Cufre in September, starting the last five matches of the season. Overall, the defender had logged in 28 clearances, 22 tackles (14 won) and 11 chances created on the year. He will play in his last season of his contract as his future beyond that is yet to be determined.

Impact Gray had been able to keep healthy for the last four months of the season, willing his starting role over Mitja Ilenic. He recorded an assist while logging in 70 clearances, 39 tackles (21 won), 26 interceptions and 23 crosses (five accurate). The homegrown player will return for his fifth season in New York after extending his contract back in 2022.

Impact Ledezma had been competing for playing time with Matias Pellegrini all season until completing losing his role when Andres Perea joined. He had recorded four assists while recording 20 crosses (six accurate). The midfielder is expected to return to the team as a bench role again, unless he can prove to be a consistent player for the team.

Impact Perea joined from the Union midseason and was an immediate impact to the team's midfield, scoring a goal while totaling 13 tackles (11 won), eight interceptions and six clearances. He is expected to report back to Philadelphia in July of 2024, unless the team decide to keep him in New York on a permanent deal.

With the midfielder signing a contract extension while also being named the team's captain, Sands will return for his seventh season in New York City F.C.
