Impact Magno started the campaign as NYCFC's starter on the left wing and then moved to center forward after Valentin Castellanos left for Girona in the summer. The 20-year-old had a very good sophomore season in MLS overall as he finished fourth on the team in scoring and second in assists, but he wasn't able to make as big of a mark in the playoffs as he would have liked thanks to a shoulder injury he suffered on Decision Day.

Thiago - Ends season as backup Thiago tallied five goals and two assists in 35 MLS appearances (14 starts) this season for NYCFC.

Impact Thiago did not take a significant step up during his sophomore campaign in MLS, even accounting for the fact that an attacking spot opened up mid-season when Valentin Castellanos departed for Girona in the summer. The 22-year-old fell behind both Gabriel Pereira and Kevin O'Toole in the depth chart in 2022, but he will want to try and climb back up the ranks on either wing in 2023.

Kevin O'Toole - Ends rookie season as starter O'Toole started NYCFC's final six matches of the season, taking four shots (two on target) and creating six chances from the left wing.

Impact O'Toole only made his MLS debut in mid-September in his rookie season out of Princeton University, but the 24-year-old immediately became the starter on the left wing for the rest of the campaign. He will want to maintain that role ahead of the likes of Thiago in 2023.

Gabriel Pereira - Ends rookie season as starter Pereira tallied nine goals and three assists across 29 appearances (17 starts) during his first season in MLS.

Impact Pereira began 2022 slowly after arriving from Corinthians in March, but the 21-year-old took over as the primary starter on the right wing once Santiago Rodriguez slid over to attacking midfield in July and he ended as NYCFC's third-highest scorer on the season. Pereira will aim to maintain the role in 2023 ahead of the likes of Thiago.

Justin Haak - Out of contract with New York City Haak's contract with NYCFC has run out and he will become a free agent if no new deal is agreed upon.

Impact Haak had a bit of a breakout season in MLS, making 17 appearances (eight starts) during his first prolonged run in the senior team this summer. The 21-year-old can play in both midfield and central defense, and the club will likely try to sign him on a new deal before the 2023 campaign begins.

Keaton Parks - Limited by injuries this season Parks scored two goals in 21 MLS appearances (12 starts) this season despite missing almost three months in the summer with a leg injury.

Impact Parks underwent surgery to remove a blood clot in his leg in July, the second time he's had to undergo this procedure in the last 13 months. The 25-year-old will just hope to be fully healthy and available in 2023, where he will want to continue pushing for a starting spot in a very deep defensive midfield position for NYCFC.

Impact Morales was a constant in New York City's midfield this campaign until injury struck in the summer and Maximiliano Moralez took over from there. The 32-year-old Morales will hope to win back the spot for 2023, but there is plenty of competition for the position with Nicolas Acevedo and Keaton Parks in the mix as well.

Nicolas Acevedo - Emerges as starter in midfield Acevedo kept five clean sheets in 34 MLS appearances (30 starts) mostly in defensive midfield this season for NYCFC.

Impact Acevedo became a full time starter during his second full season in New York City, and the 23-year-old was a constant in midfield alongside either Maximiliano Moralez, Alfredo Morales or Keaton Parks. He even filled in at right-back for a few games in the spring.

Impact Jasson got slightly less playing time this campaign than he did in 2021, but the 20-year-old will enter next season as the backup to Tayvon Gray at right-back.

Impact Gloster was the backup option to Malte Amundsen at left-back at the start of 2022, but the 22-year-old seemed to only slip further down the depth chart as the season progressed.

Impact Amundsen began the campaign as the starter ahead of Chris Gloster at left-back, but he didn't feature at all in October as Alexander Callens mostly took over for the playoffs. The 24-year-old Amundsen will try to win the spot back in 2023.

Impact Chanot began the campaign as the backup option to Alexander Callens and Thiago Martins in central defense, but the 33-year-old started 12 of New York City's final 15 matches thanks in part to injuries elsewhere along the back line.

Impact Martins immediately broke into NYCFC's starting lineup after arriving from Japan in February, and the 27-year-old quickly formed a strong center-back pairing with either Alexander Callens or Maxime Chanot for the 2021 MLS Cup champions.

The club is expected to attempt to keep the 30-year-old on board, but he would become a free agent if they can't agree on a potential new contract.

Tayvon Gray - Extends contract with New York City Gray has signed a three-year contract extension with NYCFC with the option to further extend for an additional year, the club announced Tuesday.

Impact Gray took over as the starting right-back this season, keeping eight clean sheets and recording an assist across 27 MLS appearances (22 starts) while Anton Tinnerholm was recovering from an achilles injury. The 20-year-old Gray will now enter the next campaign as a mainstay in the XI as he's signed on with the club through 2025 at least.
