Forster joining Tottenham after long spell at Southampton

England goalkeeper Fraser Forster will end his eight-year spell at Southampton by joining Tottenham on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month

Matt Targett - Completes permanent move Targett signed a four-year contract with Newcastle United on Wednesday after securing a permanent transfer from Aston Villa.

Impact Targett started all 16 of his appearances for Newcastle after joining the club on a mid-season loan. In those outings, the defender recorded six shots (four on target), 74 crosses (24 accurate) and 35 corners. Looking ahead to next season, Targett should be in the mix to serve as the primary corner taker, having taken over from Matt Ritchie in the back half of the season.

Dan Burn - Puts up strong season finish Burn played 16 EPL matches with Newcastle (all starts) and made one assist, 97 clearances, 16 tackles and 20 interceptions.

Impact Burn was one of Newcastle's several signings during a busy winter transfer window and ended up as a pleasant surprise at the heart of the defense. After suffering with injuries when playing for Brighton during the first half of the campaign, he bounced back and started 16 consecutive matches with some great performances, including an average that would be put him first place among all players in clearances if we discount his numbers at his previous club. Additional reinforcements could be coming for the Magpies' defensive line, but Burn showed that he's more than able to deliver if given the chance to start next season.

Fabian Schar - Finishes injury-plagued campaign Schar scored two goals, provided two assists and made 95 clearances over 25 appearances (all starts) during this past season.

Impact Schar missed nine of Newcastle's first 11 matches and then three out of the last five due to injuries, but was mostly great when able to play and even better after his side had some reinforcements coming for the final half of the campaign. Centre back will certainly be a position where the Magpies will have at least one high-profile name for next season but Schar will still likely be one of his side's defensive leaders.

Matt Targett - Performs well after Newcastle move Targett started in all his 16 appearances with Newcastle and racked up 74 crosses, 41 tackles, 25 interceptions and 38 clearances.

Impact Targett came from Aston Villa during winter transfer window and, despite not appearing on the scoresheet as he did in the first half of the season, he looked rejuvenated and had better performances on both sides of the pitch. The left back had the best season of his career a year ago and can very well be one of EPL's most impactful players at his position during the next campaign as Newcastle will probably bring some high-profile reinforcements that will make things easier inside the pitch.

Bruno Guimaraes - Amazes fans in first EPL season Guimaraes played 17 EPL matches (11 starts) and had five goals, one assist, 12 chances created and 44 tackles.

Impact Guimaraes arrived at St. james Park as Newcastle's all-time most expensive signing back in January and it took a little longer than expected for him to be finally inserted into the lineup. In his debut as a starter, he scored his first career EPL goal and then he never looked back, starting 10 more times over the last 11 matches and scoring four times during this stretch. Guimaraes is already a fan-favorite and his Brazilian duo alongside Joelinton usually owned the middle of the park regardless of opponent. With a full preseason in England and some high-profile players probably joining him, expect the midfielder to be one of the league's most dominant players at his position during the next campaign.

Sean Longstaff - Staying with Newcastle Longstaff signed a three-year deal with Newcastle, keeping him at the club until at least 2025.

Impact Longstaff got a few starts to close the season but only because others in the squad were injured. It's interesting to see what his future holds at Newcastle after making 15 starts each of the past two seasons, as the club is expected to sign a few players in the offseason. Unless he shows massive improvement at 24, it's hard to see him having a bigger role in future seasons.

Matt Ritchie - Plays one minute in finale Ritchie played one minute and made one interception in Sunday's 2-1 win at Burnley.

Impact Ritchie came off the bench again, but could not do much during his very limited time in the field. The midfielder was a starter for their first 13 games in the season, but then got injured and never claimed back his spot. He finished the campaign with two assists from 28 chances created, 104 crosses, 22 tackles and 23 clearances in 18 appearances (14 starts).

Sean Longstaff - Makes five tackles at Burnley Longstaff made five tackles (one won) and three clearances in Sunday's 2-1 win at Burnley.

Impact Longstaff matched his second-best mark in tackles in the season to help them earn the road win, but had a quiet outing other than that. The midfielder completed the season with 54 tackles overall, plus 18 clearances and 15 shots in 24 appearances (15 starts). He will look to improve his numbers in the 2022-23 campaign, though that may be difficult to do at Newcastle.

Allan Saint-Maximin - Assists in road win Saint-Maximin assisted one goal from two chances createad and took one shot on target in Sunday's 2-1 win at Burnley.

Impact Saint-Maximin assisted Callum Wilson's second goal in the match in the 60th minute to give them the 2-0 lead and pave the way for their road win. The forward finished the campaign with five goals from 64 shots plus five assists from 50 chances created in 35 appearances (31 starts).

Callum Wilson - Scores brace in finale Wilson scored two goals from four shots, created one chance and made one tackle (won) in Sunday's 2-1 win at Burnley.

Impact Wilson scored twice, first converting a PK in the 20th minute before finding the back of the net again in the 60th to double their lead and help them earn three points on the road. The forward completed the campaign with eight goals from 35 shots after 18 appearances (16 starts), decent numbers considering his continued injury problems.

Impact Dubravka had a good outing and was keeping the clean sheet until the 69th minute, when they already had a 2-0 lead. The goalkeeper finished the season with 35 saves and 73 goals allowed in 26 starts, while also logging just eight clean sheets. He could be the team's No. 1 next season, but those details probably won't be confirmed until the summer.

Impact Fortunately for Joelinton, it's the season of the season, so he'll have a few months to get back to full health. The question for him is where he fits in the squad next season if Newcastle add some players over the summer. For now, he's a favorite of Howe so there's still a chance he could be a regular to open next season after putting in another solid campaign, managing four goals, one assist, 45 shots and 29 chances created in 30 starts (35 appearances), most of them in the midfield.
