Impact Botman is in an awful spot, he's been out for months and has no definite timeline for his return. Over the international break it was reported that Botman was trending towards knee surgery. The worst outcome here is Botman spends multiple months trying to recover before eventually conceding defeat and undergoing surgery, which rules him out for multiple months again.

Impact Isak was expected to return Saturday and then out of nowhere Howe mentioned returns in January and December when asked about Isak. Hopefully it's an awkward mishap in the answer because losing Isak any longer would be a major concern throughout the Newcastle first team. Callum Wilson (hamstring) is out long-term so even though Isak is recovering from injury he will be thrown back into the starting XI if fit.

Sean Longstaff - Facing late fitness test Longstaff (ankle) will undergo a late fitness test before Saturday's clash with Chelsea, according to manager Eddie Howe. "We will check on Sean (Longstaff) before Saturday."
Impact Longstaff was reportedly a doubt for Saturday's clash and isn't expected to play. There's still a chance he passes the late fitness tests with flying colors but that would be surprising to say the least. The midfielder has taken a major role with Sandro Tonali suspended for 10 months.

Impact Almiron is making his way back from a hamstring issue and was reportedly always going to return Saturday. The forward should be straight back in the starting XI for what could be an important top of the table clash. Almiron suffered the injury during a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth before the break.

He then departed from the national team with a personal matter, however is expected to be ready for Saturday's match with Chelsea after participating in full training with Newcastle. The defender is still one of the best wingbacks in the Premier League as he is averaging about 7.1 crosses per game, with 86 in 12 contests, which is second most in the league.

Impact This was only thought to be a minor issue for Schar after going the full 90 in Saturday's loss, but there is now more worry after he missed Wednesday's match for Switzerland. The hope for Newcastle is that a couple players return over the break from other injuries, especially if Almiron has to miss a contest or two.
