Dagur Dan Thorhallsson - Earns starting job Thorhallsson finished the season with starts in all three playoff matches and 33 appearances total.

Impact Thorhallsson opened 2023 as a bench option but he finished it as one of the first names on the team sheet at right-back. The defender was trusted with every single minute of playoff action, a huge sign he will be the top option in 2024. That said Michael Halliday was solid in the chances he was given and could push Thorhallsson in preseason for the starting role.

Antonio Carlos - Finished on bench Carlos was left on the bench for the final three matches of 2023.

Impact Carlos opened the season as a consistent starter and earned 16 starts before injury sidelined him. When he returned from the injury he had fallen out of favor as the top choice to partner Robin Jansson in the starting XI. Despite that his option for 2024 was picked up, meaning Carlos could compete for his starting job in pre-season, or end up with a consistent role off the bench.

Ramiro Enrique - Consistent minutes Enrique made 33 appearances (seven starts) and scored four times in 2023.

Impact Enrique was never able to take over in the starting XI but he appeared off the bench in most matches and was trusted with some important minutes. A path to a starting role likely involves and injury elsewhere, but Enrique should continue to be an efficient option in a depth role in 2024.

Gaston Gonzalez - Plays depth role Gonzalez made 18 appearances (seven starts) in 2023, adding two assists.

Impact Gonzalez never took a major role in 2023, but he was a consistent part of the first team squad and performed well in limited minutes. He has multiple years still left on his deal and will be back to help contribute in 2024.

Robin Jansson - Remains first choice Jansson made 37 appearances (34 starts) in 2023, totaling 103 clearances and six shots.

Impact Jansson has always been the top choice defender when fit and now in 2023 he got the chance to stay fit. He earned some plaudits as a potential defender of the year and was excellent every time he stepped on the pitch. His option was immediately exercised by the club, meaning Jansson will be set to anchor the backline once again in 2024.

Felipe Martins - Only six starts Martins made 17 appearances (six starts) in 2023, failing to contribute a goal.

Impact Martins was held off the scoresheet for the entire year for the first time in his career. He also played the fewest minutes he has played in any single MLs season. The numbers were just as disappointing as the product on the field too, Martins simply didn't seem up to the pace and struggled mightily, though surprisingly his contract option was exercised by the club.

Luca Petrasso - Plays minor role Petrasso made just four starts (12 appearances) in 2023.

Impact Petrasso never really got started with any substantial minutes in 2023, due to injury and form. Still he should have the chance to continue to develop and maybe see some more rotational minutes in 2024, especially if he can stay fit.

Impact Cartagena has made 33 starts in 41 appearances for Orlando since joining the club on loan in 2022, and he was a key cog in midfield alongside Cesar Araujo in the previous campaign. The Peru international will be with the club for the next two years and is expected to remain a regular starter for the Lions.
