Underwent ankle surgery Portu had ankle surgery done back on October as he continues to sit out for Girona.

Impact Portu is still not expected to return as he continues to recover from ankle surgery. He had previously made seven appearances off the bench prior to his injury, totaling an assist with four tackles and two crosses.

NOVEMBER 1 • ROTOWIRE

Out vs. Real Sociedad Portu (ankle) is out for Saturday's match against Real Sociedad, manager Michel told media Friday. "Portu suffered an ankle injury on the day after the PSG game," he said.

Impact The loss of Portu is particularly complicated since Girona are also missing key contributors in the final third such as Bryan Gil (ankle), Yaser Asprilla (ankle) and Viktor Tsygankov (hamstring). Portu doesn't have a timetable for return, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to speed up his recovery to face Slovan Bratislava on Oct. 22.

Impact Portu notched his first assist of the season as he did a nice job going by Marc-Andre ter Stegen and then delivering the ball towards Christian Stuani, who then easily scored. The assist marked his first goal contribution of the season, after finishing the previous campaign with 12.

Records 12 goal contributions Portu bagged seven goals and five assists across 33 appearances (11 starts) in the 2023-24 Liga season.

Impact Portu was the first option to replace one of the missing players in the final third, and he saw time as an attacking midfielder, as a winger on both flanks and even as a striker at times. His numbers are even more impressive when considering he went the full 90 just once all season long.

Impact Portu came on for David Lopez in the 65th minute and wasted no time, scoring immediately with assists from Artem Dovbyk and later Savio in the 75th minute. Additionally, he set up a goal for Miguel Gutierrez in the 67th minute. These contributions mark his involvement in six goals across the last seven appearances.

Impact Portu replaced Ivan Martin in the 76th minute and sealed the game for Girona by scoring in the 82nd minute. Portu completed a dribble and also made an interception. He now has accumulated three goal involvements in the last five games.

Impact Portu was back in the starting XI having dropped to the bench for the previous game. He was used exclusively from as a substitute during the first half of the season, with all seven of his starts coming in the last 12 games. The attacker netted his fourth of the season when he finished a well-worked move early on in the contest. He will hope to keep his place for Saturday's game at Getafe.

Impact Portu scored the lone goal of Sunday's match, a strike in the 20th minute assisted by Miguel Gutierrez. He has started each of the last two matches after starting once in the first 18 matches of the season and has made the most of his uptick in playing time.

Portu endured a rough start to the season but seems to be trending in the right path of late, with one goal and two assists over his last four appearances.

Impact Portu did not have a great game on Monday in his first starting appearance of the season. He was subbed after 64. The attacking midfielder did manage to find the net to score Girona's second with his only on-target effort. It was his second strike in three matches, but he will need to be more consistently impactful if he is to secure a regular starting spot. From 16 appearances he has scored twice and delivered an assist.

Impact Portu got himself an assist with the one chance he created in a small five minute cameo. He is yet to start a game for Girona this year and has rarely shown much in those appearances to warrant more minutes with one assist and one goal to date.

Goes 75 in cup Portu started and went 75 minutes during Wednesday's 2-1 win over San Roque.

Impact Portu got back in the starting XI on Wednesday, though it was a rough showing from the attacker. He failed to put a shot on goal and failed to get on the scoresheet against lower league opposition. Portu has yet to make a start in La Liga.

Transfers to Girona Portu signed a four-year contract with Girona after transferring from Getafe on Friday.

Impact Portu came off the bench in the first three matches of the 2023-24 campaign while playing for Getafe, which included a 31-minute appearance versus his new club on Aug. 20. With the move to Girona, Portu should be able to secure more chances to feature in the starting XI.

Completes permanent Getafe move Portu has signed a three-year contract with Getafe after transferring on a full deal from Real Sociedad, the club announced Wednesday.

Impact Portu tallied 18 goals and 16 assists in 137 matches across all competitions during his three seasons with La Real before joining Getafe on-loan in 2022/23, where he recorded three assists while starting half of his 34 La Liga appearances at either wing/wing-back role. The 31-year-old has now completed a permanent transfer to the club following the expiration of his loan this summer.
