Anthony Gordon - In contention versus PalaceGordon has served his one-match suspension and will be available against Crystal Palace on Oct. 21.

ImpactConsidering Gordon has started all but one of his nine appearances for the club in Champions League and Premier League action, he should be a lock to return to the starting XI following the international break. Ironically, Gordon's best performance came off the bench when he recorded one goal on four shots (three on target), one assist and three tackles (two won) versus Sheffield United.

ImpactJoelinton came back too soon from his injury Sept 30 and the hope is that he doesn't take that route again. He'll need to get back in full training before being an option again and once that happens, Newcastle should be looking fairly solid, as Joe Willock is also on the mend in terms of his return from a longer-term injury.

Sven Botman - Hopeful to return after breakBotman (knee) is hopeful to return in the next two weeks during the international break, according to manager Eddie Howe.

ImpactBotman has been out since the Sept. 24 match, missing two league games and the win over PSG. Fortunately for Newcastle, Jamaal Lascelles is an experienced defender and has played well in Botman's absence. The hope is that Botman will get back to training at some point over the break and possibly be an option coming out of the break after starting 35 league matches last season, his first with Newcastle.

Alexander Isak - Bags brace, forced off lateIsak bagged a brace in Sunday's draw against West Ham but asked to come off late in the match. According to manager Eddie Howe, "fingers crossed" that he is okay.

ImpactIsak has found a bit of form in recent matches, scoring four goals in four matches ahead of the international break. He supposedly picked up a calf issue a little more than a week ago, but since that came up, he made three starts in nine days and that culminated in the brace against West Ham. If he doesn't play with Sweden over the international break, that may be a cause for concern, but for now, this isn't viewed as a serious injury.

Bruno Guimaraes - Extends Magpies stayGuimaraes signed a new five-year contract with Newcastle, keeping him at the club until 2028.

ImpactGuimaraes has made an immediate difference for Newcastle since signing with the club midway through the 2021/22 season. He's been a lock for the starting XI, has shown a nose for goal and has shown the ability to play through any kind of minor knock, hence his continued role in the squad. In the current season, he's started all 10 league and UCL matches.

Jarrod Bowen - Signs new Hammers contractBowen signed a new West Ham contract, keeping him at the club until 2030.

ImpactBowen has been pivotal to West Ham's success the last few seasons and he gets a new contract because of it. He's already on five league goals for the season through eight matches after totaling six in 38 appearances last season. Maybe more importantly, he hasn't dealt with injuries and hasn't missed a league match since 2021/22 when he appeared in 36 matches (not 38).
