Impact Mara came off with a knock earlier in pre-season but seemingly recovered quickly as he only missed one friendly. The forward's role is one to watch early in the Premier League season, though he's likely to remain a bench option as he did in the Championship. With limited minutes it's hard to project much upside against stiffer competition.

Forced off in pre-season Mara was forced off with a knock during Wednesday's friendly against Oxford.

Impact Mara picked up the knock in the 23rd minutes of the friendly and was forced off the pitch. The forward is expected to take a rotational role without really competing for starts but this injury is certainly a setback nonetheless. Mara will hope it proves to be a minor issue that he can recover from before the Premier League kicks off.

Impact Mara was an exciting prospect for Bordeaux last season, but it's possible the 19-year-old will be loaned out from Southampton for this upcoming campaign to continue getting regular playing time. If he stays at his new club, he will likely be a backup option up front.
