William Smallbone - Set to return versus Leicester Smallbone (hamstring) is expected to be an option for Saturday's trip to Leicester City, per manager Russell Martin.

Impact Smallbone was able to train Tuesday with no issues as he is ruled fit for Saturday's match. He is also set to start in the midfield for the Saints, with Joe Aribo and Lesley Ugochukwu having filled in his spot during his absence. The midfielder had also made all three of his appearances in the starting XI, collecting 19 crosses (two accurate), seven tackles and three chances created.

Kamaldeen Sulemana - Returning Saturday Sulemana (ankle) is expected to be an option for Saturday's trip to Leicester City. According to manager Russell Martin, "Kamaldeen is fit now to be in the squad."

Impact Sulemana is scheduled to return to the pitch after missing the first two months of the season with an ankle injury after utilizing the international break to focus on his recovery and fitness. The forward will probably remain a depth option for the Saints, as he made only 10 starts in 25 appearances in the Championship last campaign.

Impact Stewart picked up a knock against Arsenal just before the international break and will not be ready to return for the Leicester City clash. This is a significant setback for Stewart, who was making his first start of the season. He had also made three appearances prior to his injury, recording just two shots with four clearances. Cameron Archer is likely to get the start in the attack Saturday.

Ben Brereton - Struggling with Saints Brereton Diaz fell to the bench in three matches before the international break.

Impact Brereton Diaz hasn't scored or assisted since joining Saints, and hasn't create a chance since the second match of the season. The winger simply hasn't taken off with Southampton, and is now struggling for minutes. It's only been trending negatively as Brereton Diaz went unused on the bench during a 3-1 loss to Arsenal before the break.

Lesley Ugochukwu - Falls back to bench Ugochukwu went unused off the bench in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

Impact Ugochukwu fell back to where he began the season after starting in two of the club's last three matches, as he went unused off the bench for the third time this season. He has struggled in his 140 minutes of play, notching one shot and two chances created in the attack to go along with one interception, a clearance and three tackles in the defense. He will likely see much of his time in a rotational role, especially with the Saints constantly rotating their squad to begin the campaign.

Impact Smallbone took part in training Tuesday, and could be back for Saturday's clash. His original time frame was to return after the international break, and it seems he could be right on track for that. If Smallbone does return Saturday, he'd likely be straight back in the starting XI after starting each of the opening three matches.

Adam Armstrong - Falls to rotational role Armstrong has only appeared off the bench in two of the club's past four matches.

Impact Armstrong started in the first three matches of the season but has seemingly seen his role diminish since then, only appearing twice over four matches, with both appearances coming off the bench for a total of 24 minutes of play. His dropping can be highly attributed to his struggle to score despite being a forward, registering seven shots without a goal across those first three games. However, he could earn the spot back if he catches form, with his team continuing to rotate players as they struggle in the Premier League.

Kyle Walker-Peters - Back in starting role Walker-Peters started and played 90 minutes in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

Impact Walker-Peters was back in the starting XI after falling to the bench and going unused in their past two games. He has now started five of the club's seven contests, notching a chance created, seven shots and eight crosses in the attack to go along with three interceptions, seven tackles and nine clearances in the defense in his 441 minutes of play. He will look to remain in the starting XI moving forward, as he is still in search of his first goal contribution of the season.

Paul Onuachu - Ready for minutes Onuachu played 16 minutes off the bench before the break, and is now finally fit.

Impact Onuachu missed the opening six Premier League matches due to the same injury that sidelined him throughout pre-season. He's now fit and seems to be ready for some sort of bench role in the coming weeks. Still barring injuries elsewhere it's doubtful he really pushes into the starting XI.

Flynn Downes - Mainstay in midfield Downes has started in all seven matches this campaign.

Impact Downes continues to see regular time for the Saints this season, as he has yet to miss a start while also playing the full 90 in every contest this campaign. However, he hasn't held much value, still having yet to gain a goal contribution while notching four shots and 11 chances created. He has seen some contributions in the defense with his seven clearances, 12 interceptions and 14 tackles. The midfielder struggles mainly due to his team struggling but could see more value if some of those chances created result in goals.

Ryan Fraser - Left out again Fraser was left out of the team sheet for Saturday's 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

Impact Fraser was once again left out of the team as they opted for a more defensive side against the highly explosive Gunner squad. This comes after he also missed out on the first three games of the season, falling back to the sidelines after gaining the start in the two matches before Saturday. He has yet to see a goal contribution in his three appearances and will hope he can see more time to possibly change that soon, as he registered eight in 42 appearances in the Championship with the Saints last campaign.

Yukinari Sugawara - Continues in starting role Sugawara registered two crosses, two clearances and three tackles in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

Impact Sugawara continued in the starting role Saturday, marking his seventh straight start to begin the season. He has now notched one goal on five shots, eight crosses and 29 crosses in the attack to go along with four interceptions, 14 tackles and 17 clearances in the defense. He has served as a solid two-way player and should continue in a starting role, giving the defender some value if he can add a goal contribution every couple of games.

Mateus Fernandes - On scoresheet Fernandes assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Impact Fernandes logged in his first ever assist in the Premier League during Saturday's loss. Since signing with the Saints, the midfielder had started the last four games, totaling an assist with 10 tackles, six clearances and five chances created in that span.

Cameron Archer - Scores in win Archer scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Arsenal.

Impact Archer came on in relief of the injured Ross Stewart, playing 63 minutes while getting his first goal of the season. He's started just twice in the last five games played, totaling seven shots (four on target) and four tackles.

Impact Ramsdale was not able to put up a solid performance against his former team, allowing three goals during the loss. Ross Stewart - Forced off with knock Stewart picked up a knock and was forced off during Saturday's trip to Arsenal.

Impact Stewart was forced off halfway through the first half with the knock. The striker was replaced by Cameron Archer, who could see more chances in the team with Stewart out. That said Stewart has the international break to complete his recovery so it's possible he will get fully fit during the break and be ready to return. This was Stewarts first start, though he had played a sizable role off the bench in the last three matches.

Impact Sulemana is nearing a return despite once again missing out, with the forward now eyeing to take the field again after the international break. This would be great news for the forward, as he has yet to debut this season after picking up an injury at the end of July. However, once fit, he will likely hold a spot on the bench, only starting in 10 of his 25 appearances last campaign.

Jack Stephens - Suspended two further matches Stephans has received a further two-match ban after already sitting out three games, according to his club.

Impact Stephans will miss yet another two matches due to his sending-off a few weeks ago against Manchester United, with the defender having been handed a further two-match ban to bring his total games missed due to the suspension to five. This will leave him out until their match against Manchester City on Oct. 26, where he will hope to feature and earn the start after starting in their first four matches of the campaign.

Maxwel Cornet - No shots on target in loss Cornet had one shot (none on goal), two crosses (none accurate) and two corners in Monday's 3-1 defeat versus AFC Bournemouth.

Impact Cornet started Monday as the Saints lead striker He was lively early in the game through a strike that slipped just past the post but his attacking energy quickly dropped off. Ultimately he only managed one blocked effort and was subbed at halftime. The striker joined Southampton in August on loan from West Ham. This was his first start from two appearances and he is yet to score.

Impact Harwood-Bellis was the brightest light in an overall poor Southampton performance Monday. He demonstrated again that he is a defender who can get on the scoresheet. His goal was a sharp diving header from a cross into the box, it was his second strike in Saint's last three games. The English U21 was also a key contributor to his defense, making two clearances and two interceptions, and in midfield he engaged in six aerial duels winning them all.

Aaron Ramsdale - Concedes three in loss to Cherries Ramsdale recorded three saves and allowed three goals in Monday's 3-1 defeat against AFC Bournemouth.

Impact Ramsdale did not post a distinguishing performance Monday. None of the conceded goals could be put down to an error on his part, but he seemed a little slow and did not make any remarkable saves. The former Cherrie, who joined Saints from Arsenal in August, has yet to deliver a clean sheet from his four appearances. It is unlikely he will do so in Southampton's next which is away to title contending Arsenal.
