Impact Cubas will miss the season opener for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Tigres. The midfielder picked up an issue in pre-season and will now begin working on his recovery. The MLS season opener will come against Charlotte on March 2 for Vancouver, which will likely be Cubas' first chance to return.

Sam Adekugbe - Out against Tigres Adekugbe (undisclosed) is out for Wednesday's clash with Tigres in the Champions League.
Impact Adekugbe opens the 2024 season on the sideline, due to an undisclosed issue. It's not clear where he picked the injury up but the wing-back will now be left to try and recover before the March 2 MLS regular season opener.

Impact Halbouni joins Vancouver from Madeburg in the 2. Bundesliga. The defender will likely be a depth option at first with Vancouver, but he could certainly play his way into the back three. Halbouni made three appearances with Madeburg before completing the move to Vancouver.

Bjorn Utvik - Signs with Vancouver Utkiv has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps out of free agency, the club announced Tuesday.
Impact Utkiv is the newest member to join Vancouver's back line, having inked a contract to join the club for the next two seasons and having an option for the 2026 campaign. He previously had played for Norwegian side Sarpsborg over the past two seasons, notching 30 starts to go along with four goals and two assists in the most recent season. He should come in fighting for time immediately and will be a great addition to an already solid defense that only allowed 48 goals in 34 contests last season.

Impact Blackmon played a mammoth role in 2023 and he earned a long-term new deal with some excellent play. The defender will continue to anchor the backline for the foreseeable future, no matter the formation.

Ali Ahmed - Dealing with sports hernia Ahmed underwent a procedure to repair a sports hernia on Friday and is expected to return to training in four to six weeks, the club announced.
Impact Ahmed made 24 appearances (13 starts) in 2023, but it's worth noting his play improved as the season advanced. However, this injury means he'll probably miss the regular season opener, and it wouldn't be shocking if he starts the campaign as a bench alternative since he won't have any sort of activity in the preseason.

Ryan Gauld - Signs extension Gauld has agreed to a contract extension through the 2027 season with Vancouver on Thursday, taking up one of the club's designated player spots, the team announced.
Impact Gauld will continue his career in Vancouver following his best season of play in the MLS, having inked an extension to remain with the club for another three seasons. This all comes after the attacker led the team in goal contributions last season, appearing in 24 matches while notching 24 goal contributions. He will hope to follow that performance up with another great campaign after signing his new deal.

Fafa Picault - Heading to Vancouver Picault will be playing for Vancouver next season, having joined the team out of free agency on a one-year contract, his new club announced Thursday.
Impact Picault is remaining in the MLS after hitting free agency due to not receiving a new contract with Nashville, having signed with the Whitecaps on a one-year contract with an option for the 2025 season. The attacker was decent last season with Nashville, recording 20 starts in 29 appearances while notching a solid five goals on 35 shots and one assist on 16 chances created. He will most likely head into Vancouver having to still fight for starting minutes but could still earn that time relatively easily if the odds fall in his favor, as he will be a pretty solid option in the attack through his career, having 68 goal contributions across his seven MLS campaigns.
