Transfers to Leipzig Schlager has signed a four-year contract with RB Leipzig after transferring from Wolfsburg, the club announced Friday. Impact Schlager leaves Wolfsburg after making 81 appearances in all competitions (tallying three goals and nine assists), but he missed about half of last season with after suffering a knee injury in August that required surgery. He came up through the Salzburg academy before joining Wolfsburg in 2019, and the 24-year-old now returns to the Red Bull system as he joins Leipzig, where he will compete with the likes of Kevin Kampl, Amadou Haidara, Tyler Adams and Konrad Laimer for a starting spot in midfield, although the latter two are linked with moves away from the club in the summer. Meanwhile, Yannick Gerhardt and Aster Vranckx will likely battle it out to replace Schlager alongside Maximilian Arnold at Wolfsburg.
