Shawn Elliott gives passionate response to fake report
By Matt Lombardi
South Carolina’s 2015 campaign turned from bad to worse Saturday as the Gamecocks lost to FCS-level The Citadel 23-22 to record their eighth loss of the year. Needless to say, it wasn’t the kind of result that’s going to help interim head coach Shawn Elliott land the full-time gig.
A few hours after the contest, Twitter account @GamecockColonel dropped a completely fake news report, claiming that Elliott had quit on the team. The tweet, unfortunately, fooled a lot of people.
Elliott has now responded to the tweet as well, telling fans that he’ll “never” quit on anything. Check this out:
We’re fairly certain that Elliott realizes the tweet was meant to be a joke – but it’s tough to be sure. Either way, it doesn’t look like he’s down on his luck – he looks ready to rebound next week against arch rival Clemson.
Don't you worry I'll be standing at the gate next week to welcome them to Williams Brice and our team will be there as well!! #nobackdown
