'Beast Mode' warning: Marshawn Lynch apparently looks 'really good' in practice
The Seattle Seahawks have another offensive weapon at their disposal given that Marshawn Lynch is a go for Sunday’s playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. And Pete Carroll indicated the running back has made a return to form, as evidenced by seeing him in action this week.
“He’s looked really good in practice,” Carroll said during his KIRO 93.7 radio show, via The Seattle Times. “He’s practiced as hard as he ever has throughout the week just to prove to himself that he’s right I think as well as everybody else. So he’s ready to go and we’re anxious to see him fit in.”
The Seahawks offense, led by a red-hot Russell Wilson, has been on an absolute tear down the stretch, particularly in the passing game. If Lynch can at the minimum show flashes of “Beast Mode,” the Vikings defense may be facing a near-impossible challenge.
But there is the possibility that Lynch may need to knock off some rust, and doing so in a game where the temperature is expected to be below-zero (or around there) may make that a more difficult task. After all, Lynch last played in mid-November and played in only seven games all season before undergoing surgery for a sports hernia on Nov. 25.
Furthermore, Lynch wasn’t a dominant force when he did play this season, only averaging 3.8 yards per carry. Although only having 111 carries on his 29-year-old body heading into the postseason means he should be fresh.
But with the Seahawks offense rolling and the Vikings being forced to account for Wilson’s lethal arm, not to mention dangerous legs, there very well could be some big holes for Lynch to run through come Sunday.
