Report: 'Nothing is ruled out' for Marshawn Lynch injury
Marshawn Lynch was inactive during the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, but there’s a chance “Beast Mode” could be on the shelf for an extended period of action.
According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Lynch is going to see a specialist in Philadelphia because of an abdomen injury that could be a sports hernia. Head coach Pete Carroll said surgery is on the table:
“Nothing is ruled out at this point. This will be a real important couple of days for Marshawn and we will [know] by Wednesday probably.”
Lynch fought through the injury against the Arizona Cardinals but wasn’t able to suit up Sunday when the 49ers came to town.
The concern is Lynch may have played his last game as a member of the Seahawks, because -- per Condotta -- the team can save $6.5 million if it releases the 29-year-old running back during the offseason.
While that might seem crazy given Lynch’s caliber, that’s a realistic development because of the success his backup has achieved.
Thomas Rawls racked up 209 rushing yards, caught three passes for 46 yards and scored twice during the Seattle win. Earlier this year, the rookie amassed 169 yards and a touchdown while filling in for Lynch.
Stay tuned for more on Lynch’s status.
