Upsets No. 6 seed in Munich Hanfmann won 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3 over Jakub Mensik in the first round of Munich on Tuesday.
Impact Hanfmann secured by far his best win of the year as he upset the No. 23-ranked Czech in a three-set battle that stretched to two hours and 32 minutes. The 33-year-old from Germany improves to 3-5 so far on the season. Hanfmann will take on No. 37-ranked Tallon Griekspoor (0-1 H2H) in the second round.
