J'Wan Roberts - Leading producer underneathRoberts finished Saturday's 74-69 loss to Auburn with 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 38 minutes.
ImpactRoberts led the Cougars on the glass and in court time, controlling seven boards while playing 38 minutes. The increase in time on the floor did not lead to an increase in production as the usually efficient Roberts needed 14 shots to accumulate 12 points. Roberts went 6-for-8 from the field in Monday's season opener after shooting no worse than 59.6% over his past three seasons in Houston, making Saturday's performance a bit of an aberration. Expect Roberts to maintain his high shooting percentage and if he were to see a consistent uptick into the 30-32 minute plateau, a scoring spike could be on the horizon this season for the senior forward.

ImpactTugler moved to the bench thanks to the return of Ja'Vier Francis but still managed 31 minutes on the floor. The sophomore forward doubled his scoring output from the first game of the season and added two steals and two blocks on the defensive end. Tugler is the first man off the bench for the Cougars and should see an uptick in minutes and production this season following averaging 3.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 steals in just over 16 minutes per contest last season.
