Chase McCarty - Takes advantage of opportunity
McCarty closed with 15 points (4-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one block across 14 minutes during Saturday's 99-57 win over New Orleans.
Impact
McCarty took advantage of the blowout to post his best numbers of the season, tallying 15 points off the bench while adding six boards in the win. The freshman reserve reached double figures in minutes for the third-consecutive game and showed off his capabilities from long range, draining 3-of-4 from downtown during his career night. Expect performances like Saturday's to be few and far between for the young forward, who has averaged just seven minutes per contest in games decided by 10 points or fewer.

Kordel Jefferson - Misses another game Saturday
Jefferson (undisclosed) did not play in Saturday's 99-57 win over New Orleans.
Impact
Jefferson missed his third straight showing and eighth game of the year as the Cougars destroyed New Orleans. The sophomore guard will now luckily have a full week to work back from his injury, as Houston doesn't play again until next Saturday versus Arkansas.

Kalifa Sakho - Inactive Saturday
Sakho (knee) will not appear in Saturday's game against New Orleans, Chris Baldwin of PaperCity Magazine reports.
Impact
Sakho has been able to work through some limited drills this week, but he will remain sidelined against New Orleans after sustaining a knee injury during Wednesday's win over Jackson State. The 6-foot-11 senior is expected to be held out for a last a week, with a return Dec. 20, against Arkansas a possibility.

Emanuel Sharp scores 23, No. 7 Houston beats Jackson State 80-38
Emanuel Sharp scored 23 points, Isiah Harwell added 20 points and No. 7 Houston won its third straight game, routing Jackson State 80-38

Isiah Harwell - Tallies 20 points off bench
Harwell produced 20 points (8-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 80-38 victory over Jackson State.
Impact
Harwell came off the bench to drain four from downtown en route to a career-high 20 points as the Cougars overmatched Jackson State. The reserve freshman had yet to reach double figures in scoring in his career and had totaled just five points across his previous four contests prior to Wednesday's breakout performance. Harwell topped 20 minutes for the fourth time this season and with the other three occurrences coming against Tennessee, Syracuse and Auburn, it's promising that he could see a relatively significant role moving forward. That said, while the highly-touted freshman who ranked number 14 on the ESPN 100 prior to the season has a bright future, his production for the remainder of this season is likely to continue to be muted based on the talent and depth of the Houston roster.

Kalifa Sakho - Doesn't return Wednesday
Sakho (knee) didn't return in Wednesday's win over Jackson State.
Impact
As expected, Sakho didn't return after suffering a left knee injury in the win over Jackson State. Further tests will be needed to determine the severity of the injury, but it seems he'll be questionable -- at best -- to face New Orleans on Saturday.

Kalifa Sakho - Helped off court Wednesday
Sakho was helped off the court during Wednesday's game against Jackson State due to an apparent left knee injury, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Sakho suffered the injury when Isiah Harwell fell into his left knee on a drive to the basket. That's a devastating development for a player who already fought his way back into the rotation following a back problem. It remains to be seen if he'll return to action, but it wouldn't be surprising if he has to spend time on the sidelines.

Jacob McFarland - Available to play Wednesday
McFarland (leg) is available for Wednesday's game against Jackson State, Chris Baldwin of the PaperCity Magazine reports.
Impact
Not only would McFarland be making his season debut if he steps on the hardwood Wednesday, but it'd be a remarkable comeback since he'll be returning from two leg surgeries. He'll add depth at center, but expect Houston to drag him along slowly considering all the time he's spent sidelined.

Kordel Jefferson - Remaining out vs. Jackson State
Jefferson (undisclosed) won't play against Jackson State on Wednesday, per GoCougs.com.
Impact
Jefferson isn't warming up and will miss his second straight game and seventh overall this season. The reserve guard plays sparingly regardless, so this shouldn't impact the Cougars much against Jackson State.

Bryce Jackson - Will redshirt 2025-26 season
Burton will redshirt Houston's 2025-26 season, according to Chris Baldwin of PaperCity Magazine.
Impact
Jackson's 2025-26 season is without any stats. For it, four of Houston's wings (Emanuel Sharp, Kingston Flemings, Mercy Miller and Isiah Harwell) average at least 10.0 minutes per game. Redshirting preserves Jackson's freshman year of collegiate eligibility.

Chris Cenac Jr. - Records second double double
Cenac logged 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one block across 29 minutes during Saturday's 82-67 win over Florida State.
Impact
Cenac flashed on Saturday, recording his second career double double, the first time he's accomplished the feat since opening night. The freshman big man had been struggling offensively over the previous three games, tallying a total of 17 points, though he also added 25 boards to maintain fantasy relevancy over that stretch. Cenac is an important cog to the Houston engine, pairing with Joseph Tuggle to give the Cougars elite front-court potential to go along with their dynamic back court. He's now averaging 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds across 24.9 points per contest.
