Impact Flagler wasn't in the starting lineup after being deemed a game-time decision, so it's not a huge surprise he ended up taking the night off. the junior guard's next chance to take the field arrives Wednesday at Arizona State in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.

LJ Cryer - Leads the way in first start Cryer posted a game-high 21 points (8-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, and a steal in the win over Stanford on Saturday.

Impact Cryer got his first start of the season in place of Adam Flagler (hand). He continued to prove to coach Scott Drew that he deserves a lot of playing time each night. Cryer is now averaging 18.5 points, 3.5 three-pointers, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. It's going to be extremely hard to keep him out of the starting five even with Flagler returns healthy if Cryer keeps producing like this.

James Akinjo - 11 assists in dominant win Akinjo closed Saturday's 86-48 victory over Stanford with 11 points (5-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound, 11 assists and four steals over 32 minutes.

Impact Akinjo was excellent as a distributor in what was really a dominant showing even without Adam Flagler (hand). LJ Cryer has been a terrific guard option off the bench to go alongside Kendall Brown and Flagler. Baylor's rotation is pretty deep at the moment, but as conference play approaches Akinjo should see a more high volume of minutes and scoring opportunities.

Impact Baylor coach Scott Drew described the absence as precautionary, suggesting Flagler could have played had the stakes been a bit higher (Baylor ultimately prevailed by nearly 50 points). Flagler's absence ultimately allowed L.J. Cryer to see more minutes, as he led the Bears with 20 points across 22 minutes off the bench. As long as no further issues are discovered, however, Flagler should return to a more normal role in what should be a closer game Saturday against Stanford.

Brown continues to look like possibly the best freshman in the Big 12 this season, averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.7 steals through three games this season. Brown and the Bears will have their first real test on Saturday against Stanford.

He is someone to keep an eye on as Baylor start to get into more competitive games.

Impact Tchamway Tchatchoua has come off the bench each of the first two games, but has been more productive than Flo Thamba. It's unclear exactly how this situation will work out down the road, but neither has a ton of stand alone value without the other out of the lineup.

Impact It was a question as to whether it would be Thamba or Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua to start at center this season for the Bears. So far Thamba has gotten both starts, but Tchamwa Tchatchoua has been more productive off the bench. It will probably be a fluid situation this season, with neither player having much upside unless the other is injured.

Impact Cryer was the team's top scorer off the bench, something that has a chance to become a theme this season. The injury to Langston Love leaves Cryer as easily the top backcourt option off the bench for the Bears. Baylor's starting rotation appears to be pretty solidified, but Cryer should still see 20-25 minutes most nights.

Impact Brown is one of the highest ranked recruits in Baylor history. He impressed in training camp and was inserted into the starting lineup for Day 1. With all the departures Baylor had last season, Brown figures to be in position to put up big numbers and potentially take home some awards at the end of the season as a top freshman.
