Kuany Kuany - Limited by ankle issueKuany exited Sunday's matchup against Utah with an ankle injury and did not return to the contest, freelance college basketball writer Rocco Miller reports.
ImpactKuany has started seven of nine possible games for California this season, serving as the primary small forward in larger lineups, though Jalen Celestine has often cut into those minutes off the bench. It was Celestine who was called upon to make his first start of the season Sunday, however, and he ended up scoring six points on 3-of-5 shooting while logging one of his higher minutes totals of the year. If Kuany ends up being unavailable Wednesday against Idaho State, look for Celestine to again be the beneficiary.

Gabe Madsen - Logs 14 minutes in returnMadsen racked up zero points (0-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 14 minutes during Sunday's 66-58 win over California.
ImpactMadsen missed six consecutive games due to illness but returned Sunday as the team's second-leading backcourt reserve. While his shots didn't fall in this one, it looks like he's clear to contribute in a depth role for the 6-2 Utes moving forward.

Branden Carlson - Plays through ankle sprainCarlson ended Sunday's 66-58 win over California with 12 points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds and one block across 21 minutes.
ImpactCarlson was limited to a season-low seven minutes last week against USC after suffering an ankle sprain, but he was back in the starting five Sunday for the Utes. It was a modest effort with the frontcourt minutes getting distributed relatively evenly, but certainly a good sign for the seven-footer's health moving forward.

Both Gach - Another strong performanceGach finished Sunday's 66-58 win over California with 19 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal over 30 minutes.
ImpactGach led all scorers in the game with 19 points on 70 percent shooting, while also tying a team-high with six rebounds. Since entering the starting lineup for the injured Marco Anthony, Gach is averaging 17 points over the last three games. His impressive play may keep Anthony on the bench even when he's healthy enough to return, with Anthony only shooting 34 percent from the field.

Grant Anticevich - Posts double-doubleAnticevich amassed 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt) and 10 rebounds across 32 minutes during Sunday's 66-58 loss to Utah.
ImpactAnticevich posted his second double-double of the season but it wasn't enough as Cal fell to 4-5 on the season. Normally a solid shooter from long range, he wasn't able to find his form as he went 0-for-4 from deep. Anticevich has taken on a bigger role this season but is only shooting 43 percent from the field.
