Khalif Battle - Tops Zags in scoring Battle went for a team-high 20 points (6-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and an assist in Saturday's exhibition loss to USC.

Impact Battle got the start at shooting guard over Nolan Hickman, which was somewhat surprising, but both players ended up playing the same amount of time at 28 minutes. Battle is going to be a hard player for coach Mark Few to keep off the floor because of how great of a scorer he is. The 6-5 guard closed last season at Arkansas averaging 29.6 points over the final seven contests. Gonzaga will open the regular season on Nov. 4 against Baylor.

Ryan Nembhard - Picks right up in exhibition game Nembhard tallied 19 points (5-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 9-10 FT), eight assists, and a steal in Saturday's exhibition los to USC.

Impact Nembhard picked right up where hd did last season with the Zags and showed why he is capable of being one of the nation's leader in assists. Nembhard also was able to get into the paint and to the free-throw line a lot in this contest. It was a different look in the Gonzaga starting five in this one with transfers Michael Ajayi and Khalif Battle getting the nods over Nolan Hickman. Whoever is out there around Nembhard, however, is likely to find open shots. He will have a great regular season-opening matchup against Jeremy Roach and Baylor on Nov. 4.

Nolan Hickman - Comes off bench in exhibition Hickman came off the bench and had 12 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists and two steals in Saturday's exhibition loss to USC.

Impact Hickman has been a starter the last two seasons for the Zags, so it was a bit surprising to see him come off the bench in this big exhibition game. That being said new wings like Khalif Battle and Michael Ajayi are also both deserving of starting spots like they did on Saturday. Hickman still played nearly 29 minutes, so whether or not he is starting seems irrelevant. Gonzaga is likely to play small with four guards for long stretches of games. They will open the regular season against Baylor on Nov. 4.
