Contributes 14 as Texas bows out Horton posted 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt), five rebounds and one steal over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 78-74 loss to Kansas State.

Impact Horton's 14 points trailed only Max Abmas amongst all Texas players and matched his total from the previous four games combined. While his performance was not quite enough to get the Longhorns over the hump in the Big 12 tournament against Kansas State, he and his Texas teammates are a near lock to continue their season in the NCAA tournament once the at-large bids to the big dance are announced on Sunday.

Impact Horton made his first start of the month of February after averaging 24.3 mpg over his last four, but the senior didn't make much of an impact on the box score. Regardless of his lineup status, Horton remains a secondary offensive option for the Longhorns.

Impact Horton earned just his fifth start of the season Wednesday and took advantage by playing 37 minutes while pacing the Longhorns in scoring. The senior wing had come off the bench in the first three games of the conference slate, going scoreless on just five shot attempts and making this start and subsequent performance all the more unexpected. He had gotten off to a strong start this season, scoring double-figures in six of the first seven, but averaged just 2.9 points in the nine games prior to Wednesday. WIth the Longhorns slumping and Brock Cunningham failing to contribute much upon his move to the bench, it would not be a surprise if Horton will be given a chance to continue to prove himself as a member of the starting five.
