Impact Akins finished with a career-high 11 rebounds but was unable to get his shots to fall in Monday's loss to James Madison. The 6-foot-4 junior averaged 9.7 points, four rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals on 27.4 minutes per game in 2022, starting in 25 contests. Akins and the Spartans will look to rebound against Southern Indiana this Thursday.

Six dimes in exhibition Akins had 12 points (4-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and six assists across 29 minutes in Sunday's 89-88 exhibition loss to Kansas.

Impact Akins has now reached double figures in both of Michigan State's exhibition contests, but Sunday showed off his passing ability after he didn't record a single assist in 21 minutes last Wednesday. The third-year guard decided against going pro this offseason and will look to crack double-digit scoring for the first time in his career in 2023-24. Despite a slower-paced offense with a lot of returning scoring, Akins has the makings of a fantasy sleeper.

Impact Akins gave a quality performance in the first overtime game of the tournament, bouncing back after scoring just five points in the previous round against Marquette. Though he averaged 13.1 points per game in the final seven contests of the season, Akins averaged 9.7 points per game overall. Regularly scoring in double-figures should be a major goal for Akins by the fall.
