Impact Butler has only needed to play 26.8 minutes per game so far this season, as Baylor has steamrolled virtually everyone they have played to this point. The Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year is still averaging impressive numbers at 14.8 points, 6.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 three-pointers per game. He should have another easy game next Tuesday against Central Arkansas.

Impact The Baylor basketball program has really struggled with COVID-19 issues this season. This latest pause will mean that Sunday's game against Texas and Tuesday's game against Tarleton State will be postponed. Their next game is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 19 against Kansas State.

Gonzaga game cancelled Saturday's game between Gonzaga and Baylor has been cancelled due to issues related to COVID-19, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact The cancellation of the game happened because there were two positive tests in the Gonzaga travelling party -- one unnamed player and one staffer. This was a marquee matchup between the two top teams in the country, and now it remains to be seen what will happen with the schedules for both teams going forward, though both Gonzaga and Baylor will attempt to reschedule the game at a later date.

Impact This isn't a huge surprise after Baylor had to withdraw from the Empire Classic this week due to members of the team testing positive for COVID-19. Their next game after that on the schedule is Dec. 2 against Illinois, but that is very up in the air as well.

Impact Baylor was originally scheduled to tip off its season against Arizona State on Wednesday, despite coach Scott Drew testing positive for COVID-19 and already naming a replacement. It's unclear if the virus has spread to other members of the team, but Baylor will take an overly cautious approach nonetheless. Baylor does have matchups scheduled for Nov. 29 at Seton Hall and Dec. 2 vs. Illinois, but those appear shaky at best at this point in time.

Named preseason AP All-American Butler was selected to the 2020-21 Associated Press Preseason All-American team that was announced Wednesday.

Impact Already voted the preseason player of the year in the Big 12 conference, the accolades are beginning to pile up for Butler. He'll again command the backcourt for a Baylor team voted No. 2 overall in the AP preseason poll, looking to build on tremendous averages of 16.0 points and 3.1 assists from a season ago. Baylor may be a defensively-oriented team, but the Bears made the top-20 in KenPom's offensive efficiency metric a season ago, with Butler serving as the team's leading scorer.
