Posts season high in defeat Cryer ended Tuesday's 85-80 OT loss to Alabama with 30 points (9-26 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 10-10 FT), two assists and three steals across 42 minutes.

Impact Cryer and the Cougars saw their first tight matchup of the season, and the end result was the fifth-year senior posting his season-best scoring total and leading all scorers in the contest. He did miss a a potential game-winning shot, but the end result was still favorable for fantasy managers who had been waiting for an output like this. Cryer will next take the court Thursday for another Impact Group game against Notre Dame.

Role minimized by blowouts Cryer is averaging 12.3 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 rebounds for Houston through three games to start the 2024-25 season.

Impact Cryer has started all three games at shooting guard this season for the Cougars, but he saw 19 minutes or less in two of those games, each of which were blowouts by 45 or more points. In Houston's lone close game -- a five-point loss to Auburn on Nov. 9 -- Cryer played a season-best 28 minutes and totaled 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting. He's also knocked down seven three-pointers in three games. While it's not necessarily the all-around production fantasy managers had been hoping for from the fifth-year senior, his outlook remains positive for the rest of the year.

Fully cleared Cryer (foot) has been fully cleared for basketball-related activities, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact Upon it becoming clear that Cryer would re-enroll at Houston, he underwent surgery on his left foot. Fast forward less than five months later, and the redshirt senior is healthy again before what is expected to be his last preseason. Impact All six of Cryer's made shots came from behind the arc as he led the victorious Cougars with 20 points. The six made threes matched a season high while it was the 12th 20-point effort of the season for Houston's leading scorer. Cryer and his Cougar teammates will enter the NCAA tournament as one of the favorites, but will first look to culminate their inaugural season in the Big 12 with a conference tournament championship against Iowa State on Saturday.

Impact Cryer shot only 3-for-16 from three in his first two games with Houston but began to reclaim his stroke on Monday. The senior transfer from Baylor scored in double figures and shot over 40% from behind the arc in each of his last two seasons in Waco. Through three games, Cryer currently leads the defensive-minded Cougars in scoring with a 15 point-per-game average.

Impact On a night in which point guard Jamal Shead was limited to just two points (but recorded eight assists), it was up to Cryer to lead the scoring, and he did so in an efficient manner. It was also disclosed leading up the the game that fellow transfer guard Damian Dunn is dealing with a "really bad ankle injury" and is without a return timetable, which means Cryer might have to carry even more of the scoring in the early going. The Baylor transfer averaged 15.0 ppg a season ago for the Bears.
