ImpactAfter gaining clearance from a knee injury in mid-October, Watkins was one of three VCU starters in double figures in the opener. The 6-7 wing appeared in 26 games for the Rams last season and should see an uptick in production as long as he hangs on to the starting job.

ImpactJohns suffered a broken nose in a late-October practice but started the opener and apparently played without a protective mask. The Michigan transfer and fifth-year senior should continue similar production as the starting power forward moving forward.

ImpactJohns is set to play in Monday's season opener despite suffering a broken nose ahead of the team's exhibition against Shippensburg on Oct. 29. The senior transfer averaged 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game across 31 contests with Michigan last season, and he should play a much larger role during his final collegiate campaign with VCU.
