Impact Sasser aggravated his groin injury in the first half of Thursday's win over Northern Kentucky and didn't leave the bench in the second half of the matchup. However, he'll be available for the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Impact After the win, Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson explained that Sasser tried to give it another go but just "felt funny." Sampson spoke with Sasser at halftime and told him to just rest for the remainder of the game. The Cougars were able to pull out the win, but it wasn't pretty. Starting guard Jamal Shead is also dealing with a hyperextended knee that he is expected to play through, but the Cougars' backcourt depth took a significant hit Thursday. Like Shead, Sasser should also be good to go for Houston's Round of 32 matchup with Auburn, but both could be operating at well below 100 percent.

Questionable to return Thursday Sasser reaggravated his groin injury during the first half of Thursday's game against Northern Kentucky and is questionable to return, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Sasser did not come out with the rest of the team to warm up before the start of the second half and was seen trying to loosen up on the stationary bike as play resumed. The 6-2 senior was visibly bothered by his groin issue on the bench after being taken out in the first half and it's a strong possibility he may not return to the floor if the pain is not tolerable. Sasser scored five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and chipped in two rebounds across 14 minutes in the first half. The Cougars are currently locked into a tight battle with the Norse and may have to grind out the rest of the game without their leading scorer.
