Florida State, Rutgers trending upward; Memphis in trouble

Josh Minott - Efficient play before ejection Minott amassed 12 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals over 18 minutes during Saturday's 72-71 loss to East Carolina.

Impact Minott often flew under the radar in a loaded recruiting class, but he's still a four-star wing with plenty of skill, and he's just starting to show it with his fourth consecutive start. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Minott was ejected in the second half for leaving the bench during an altercation. He still put up a very respectable box score prior to the departure, but fantasy managers are forced to wonder what could have been. Minott stands to eventually lose some playing time once players like Landers Nolley (knee) and DeAndre Williams (back)return, but as long as they are sidelined, continue to ride the hot streak.

Emoni Bates - Continues to progress Wednesday Bates supplied 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-3 FT) and seven rebounds in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 74-64 loss to UCF.

Impact Bates came off the bench in his second game back after missing the previous three with a finger injury. The five star guard is averaging 11.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game this season. Bates has started in nine games for the Tigers this season, as he progresses, expect him to return to his starting role.

Landers Nolley - Out Saturday Nolley (knee) will not play Saturday against East Carolina, Steven Johnson of the Daily Memphian reports.

Impact This is a big loss for Memphis as Nolley had been averaging nearly 30 minutes of playing time since the start of conference play. With Nolley out, Josh Minott could pick up more minutes at small forward for the Tigers. Memphis next plays Thursday against SMU.

Jayden Hardaway - Not warming up early Hardaway (undisclosed) is not warming up ahead of Saturday's game against East Carolina, Steven Johnson of the Daily Memphian reports.

Impact There is still over an hour before tipoff but Hardaway's absence from warmups suggests he may not play against the Pirates. Hardaway played just two minutes Wednesday and if he's unavailable to play Saturday, his next chance to return comes against SMU on Tuesday.

DeAndre Williams - Out again Saturday Williams (back) will miss Saturday's game against Eastern Carolina, Jason Munz of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Impact Williams is set to miss his third straight game after leaving the game against Tulsa on Jan. 4, with a back injury. The 6-foot-9 forward has started 11 games for Memphis, putting up 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks on 23.4 minutes per game this season.

Earl Timberlake - Available against East Carolina Timberlake (concussion) is available Saturday against East Carolina, Jason Munz of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Impact The Miami transfer traveled with the team Saturday after missing Wednesday's contest against UCF with a concussion. Now it has been confirmed that Timberlake will indeed be available. He had started four straight games before his injury, but it's unclear if he's ready to rejoin the starting lineup.

Earl Timberlake - Makes trip with team Timberlake (concussion) has traveled with the team for Saturday's game versus East Carolina, Jason Munz of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Impact Timberlake seems to have a good shot to retake the floor after missing the last contest due to concussion protocols. Based on his inclusion on the trip, it would seem the protocols are behind him and Timberlake figures to be in line to take the floor versus the Pirates.
