Impact Ruffin played 17 minutes and scored six points (3-11 FG) while adding three boards and three assists in the exhibition contest. He wore a knee brace during the game as he is still recovering from a knee injury last season. Coach Kermit Davis said that Ruffin suffered a setback in the exhibition game and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis going forward. Everything appears to be structurally fine with his repaired ACL, but the knee is still causing Ruffin issues. It's looking like he will miss at least a few games to start the season. True freshman Amaree Abram is an option to start at PG while Ruffin is out.

Myles Burns - May start for the Rebels Burns has a great chance to start for Mississippi after playing well in an exhibition match.
Impact The former Loyola New Orleans player has emerged as a strong candidate to start at one of the forward sports for the Rebels. Burns played well in Mississippi's recent exhibition match against West Georgia, logging 19 minutes and collecting eight points. His primary competition for minutes should come from Jayveous McKinnis and Josh Mballa.

Impact Brakefield played the second-most minutes on the court for the Rebels, and certainly made the most of them. He scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while grabbing eight rebounds. The former Duke Blue Devil is in line to start at the five for the Rebels this season.

Impact Unfortunately for Cowherd, he was Mississippi's only backup who failed to score any points. The freshman will not do much while Tye Fagan is healthy. But even without him, the Rebels have guards like James White and T.J. Caldwell also preventing Cowherd from being valued.

Impact Now that Mballa is healthy, he will try to maximize a season of collegiate eligibility remaining. The transferred senior averaged 13.0 points and 8.6 rebounds across his 28 games played during Buffalo's 2021-22 season.
