Impact Now that Zach Edey, the reigning two-time Naismith Player of the Year, is an NBA player, Purdue's basketball team will have to depend on its other players. There is no clearer candidate than Smith, who served as Edey's sidekick for the 2023-24 Boilermakers. The junior guard averaged 12.0 points while shooting 43.1 percent from deep, 7.5 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals across his 39 games started as a sophomore. Edey being gone and Purdue lacking more proven options than Smith suggests he will improve at least some of the aforementioned rates.
