PG role not set in stone Watts will continue to compete with the likes of Foster Loyer and A.J. Hoggard for minutes at point guard in 2020-21, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. Impact Watts potentially has big shoes to fill, as Michigan State is without an experienced point guard for the first time in years following the departure of Cassius Winston. It's Watts that has the most talent of the bunch as the highest-rated recruit, though Izzo did acknowledge in a recent interview that Foster Loyer has been "playing better" and that the position is "not yet set." It's not as if the minutes of Watts are in grave danger, as he started 16 of 27 games for the Spartans last season and would presumably see starter minutes at shooting guard even if he's not the primary ball handler. Further clouding the backcourt rotation is the return of Josh Langford, who appears to be fully healthy after missing the better part of two years due to a foot injury. The best-case scenario for Watts' fantasy value is him hanging on to the starting point guard role, and that's still seemingly the most likely option, but it will be worth monitoring MSU practices and scrimmages until the team makes a final announcement.
