Named SEC Preseason POY Pippen was named the 2021-22 SEC Preseason Player of the Year on Tuesday. Impact Pippen could have gone pro after an outstanding sophomore season, but ultimately elected to return as Vanderbilt's chief scorer once again. HIs 20.8 ppg average from a season ago is the highest mark of any returning power-conference player, and he achieved that with an efficient 42.8 percent shooting, along with 4.9 dimes per contest. Despite that success, however, Vanderbilt is still projected to finish as a bottom-2 team in the conference. Joining Pippen on the preseason all-SEC first team are Jaden Shackelford (Alabama), Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama), Colin Castleton (Florida), Sahvir Wheeler (Kentucky) and Iverson Molinar (Mississippi State).
