Injures ankle ThursdaySaunders injured his ankle during the first half of Thursday's 78-64 loss to Vanderbilt, Justin Williams of The Athletic reports.
ImpactSaunders was spotted in crutches and a walking boot after the game Thursday. The official ruling is a sprained ankle for the freshman, who finished the night with three points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists and two rebounds over 17 minutes. Early signs point to the ankle injury being more than just a tweak, though no timetable has been offered for his return. Cincinnati plays its regular-season finale against East Carolina on Sunday, and Saunders' availability will be up in the air until further details emerge regarding his condition. If Saunders misses time, Mason Madsen, who has seen a large share of minutes off the bench lately, appears a top candidate to start Sunday.
