Impact Addae-Wusu is apparently available off the bench or the Red Storm during the season opener Tuesday. The guard will likely play behind Stef Smith and Montez Mathis at the shooting-guard position.

Impact Although Addae-Wusu was out for the team's exhibition game with a lingering ankle injury, the guard seem likely to be available for the Red Storm in Tuesday's season opener. The sophomore averaged 6.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 27 outings last season.

Impact This is hardly a surprise considering the sophomore guard had yet to practice as of a week ago, but Addae-Wusu still has 12 days to get right before the scheduled season opener against Mississippi Valley State. Until then, look for Posh Alexander and Stef Smith to take on the bulk of the backcourt minutes, with Rafael Pinzon serving as one of the top guards off the bench.

Joel Soriano - Easy scoring in St. John's debut Soriano had 17 points (6-6 FG, 5-7 FT), six rebounds and two assists across 15 minutes in Wednesday's 107-43 exhibition victory over DIII Baruch.
Impact It was reported earlier this offseason that the 6-11 Fordham transfer would start at center for St. John's this year, and Soriano did just that in what was essentially a warm-up exhibition. He casually recorded more points than minutes played in what was a perfect day from the field, and certainly looked the part of a high-major fantasy asset. Without any additional, official exhibition games on the schedule, St. John's will next take the court in the home opener Nov. 9 against Mississippi Valley State.

Justin Champagnie - Already in form Champagnie had 19 points (7-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 13 rebounds and two assists across 25 minutes in Wednesday's 107-43 exhibition victory over DIII Baruch.
Impact Champagnie ultimately decided to delay his NBA plans for another year with St. John's, and despite undergoing wrist surgery this summer, it already looks like he's in mid-season form. Granted the level of competition was light, but Champagnie was essentially able to get whatever he wanted. The preseason first-team all-Big East forward should again be one of the top fantasy assets in the conference.

Posh Alexander - 10 dimes in exhibition Alexander (thumb) started and recorded six points (3-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), 10 assists and five rebounds across 23 minutes in Wednesday's exhibition victory over DIII Baruch.
Impact Alexander battled wrist and thumb injuries as his freshman season came to a close in 2020-21, but it was the thumb that required surgery almost immediately after the year concluded. He certainly looked healthy in noteworthy exhibition minutes, though he served more as a distributor than a scorer, attempting less shots than anyone else in the starting five. He was already considered a talented distributor after averaging 4.3 apg in his inaugural campaign, and while the light competition here should be taken into account, it appears that patter will continue into 2021-22.

Impact Given the lack of practice time, coach Mike Anderson is uncertain if Addae-Wusu will be ready for opening night, which lands Nov. 9 against Mississippi Valley State. Should the second-year guard ultimately have to sit, the backcourt would still be in good hands with Posh Alexander, Stef Smtih and Montez Mathis at the helm.

Impact Champagnie was experiencing wrist issues while going through the NBA Draft process this summer, which led to him going under the knife in late-July. Fortunately for the preseason all-Big East first-team forward, it appears he shouldn't be limited by the time the regular season rolls around in roughly three weeks. He's in line to be the primary fantasy option on the team after leading the conference with 19.8 ppg last season. The Red Storm have their first official exhibition against Baruch on Oct. 27 before opening up in an official capacity Nov. 9 against Mississippi Valley State.

Impact Soriano has reportedly shed 22 pounds from his frame since joining the team as a transfer from Fordham, where he averaged 10.4 points and 92 rebounds over 26 minutes per game a season ago. The lost weight could help him stay on the floor for longer periods of time and figures to help with mobility moving forward.
