Maliq Brown - Promising beginning as center Brown logged 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, four steals and one assist across his 24 minutes during Syracuse's 83-72 win Monday against New Hampshire. Impact Despite recently suffering from a lower-body injury and not being part of Syracuse's starting lineup Monday, Brown logged double-digits and tied his career high in steals against New Hampshire. Brown operated as the Orange's backup center, a role he did not have during their previous season. The move could be highly beneficial for Brown in spite of his relatively below-average frame. For starters, Syracuse replaced superstar center Jesse Edwards with Naheem McLeod, a good option but one who has been unable to average at least 15 minutes across each of his previous two seasons. The team needs playing time from somebody and would possibly use Brown more to make it work.
