Trying to earn QB1 title Morton continues to battle Tyler Shough and Donovan Smith to be the Red Raiders' starting quarterback, WreckEmRed.com reports.
Impact Morton is tied up in a quarterback battle with Tyler Shough and Donovan Smith and while coach McGuire knows who he plans to award the title to, he is waiting until the team's last scrimmage Saturday. Morton lacks starting experience at the college level which certainly puts him at a disadvantage, but he still has time to prove himself before the decision is finalized.

Set to compete Morton is part of the quarterback competition at Texas Tech this offseason, Nick Coppola of Guns Up Nation reports.
Impact Texas Tech is breaking in a new coaching staff, so all of Morton, Tyler Shough and Donovan Smith are starting on relatively equal footing. Shough and Smith are far more experienced than Morton, who redshirted in 2021, however. Morton will have a chance to move up the depth chart this spring.
