Impact Fancher has struggled mightily over Marshall's last three games, going 41-for-76 with 435 passing yards and a 1:6 TD:INT. While Fancher was benched for Cole Pennington in Week 9, Pennington also struggled, meaning Fancher could receive more leeway going forward.

Impact Fancher was replaced by Cole Pennington in the third quarter after throwing his second interception of the contest. However, Pennington didn't fare much better, completing 12-of-23 passes for 77 yards and two interceptions himself. Although Fancher should still be considered the favorite to be under center against Appalachian State in Week 10, it's clear that he's on an extremely short leash.
