Brendon Lewis - Set to open season under center Following the major knee injury for JT Shrout, Lewis will start the opener under center against FCS Northern Colorado on Sept. 3, Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera reports. Impact Lewis had been neck and neck with Shrout for the starting quarterback job to open the campaign, but Shrout's injury will exclude him from the competition the rest of the way. It's surely not the way Lewis had hoped to win the starting job, but he's now locked in under center, sporting very little experience to date. The freshman appeared in just one game last season, completing six of his 10 pass attempts for 95 yards while also running for 73 yards and a score on nine carries. Freshman Drew Carter and walk-on Jordan Woolverton are the only quarterbacks on the roster for the Buffs at this point, leaving the room thinned out a bit heading into 2021.
