Named backup quarterback Pyne was referred to as "clearly the no. 2 quarterback," by Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz, Power Missou reports. Impact Pyne was clearly behind returning starter Brady Cook, but there's a litany of other quarterbacks in Missouri's room such as Aidan Glover and Harold Blood that in theory could've pushed for the backup gig. However, Drinkwitz put those notions to bed by saying that Pyne is clearly the backup and that "There's no more competition on that." Pyne spent 2023 with Arizona State, where he threw for 273 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 53.1 percent of his passes.
