Impact Pyne will join the Sun Devils and new head coach Kenny Dillingham after starting 10 games for Notre Dame this season, leading the Fighting Irish to an 8-2 record. The redshirt sophomore figures to immediately compete with Trenton Bourguet for ASU's starting signal-caller job after Emory Jones entered the transfer portal this offseason as well. Pyne will have three remaining seasons of collegiate eligibility.

Breaks out against NC Pyne had a breakout game completing 24-of-34 pass attempts for 289 yards and three touchdowns in the Notre Dame 45-32, win at North Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Impact This was Pyne's second start and it could not have gone any better. After a slow start, Notre Dame scored five straight times between the second and third quarters. During that run, Pyne threw all three of his touchdowns. The junior also ran six times for 20 yards. The Irish have a bye this week and don't play until Saturday, Oct. 8, when they face Brigham Young in Las Vegas. Outside of Ohio State this could be the toughest pass defense that Notre Dame will face. The Cougars are top 25 in the FBS against the pass.
