Impact Huff, the Furman transfer, has battled valiantly this offseason with Smothers, the incumbent quarterback, as well as Zion Turner. It appears as if this position battle will need to carry over into the season, and all three should see time against Costal Carolina in the opener.

Impact For the second time in three years, Wright will sit out an FBS season. Undisclosed problems continue to limit him from being available, 2025 now the earliest he can be.

Ron Wiggins - Missing most of season Wiggins underwent surgery this morning to repair a toe ligament and head coach Rich Rodriguez said Wiggins will miss at least 10 weeks, Mark Edwards of The Anniston Star reports.

Impact Wiggins will now be out until at least the last week of October. This should pave way for running backs Anwar Lewis and Andrew Paul to take more backfield reps in the first two months, if not more, of the season.

Ron Wiggins - Scores in bowl victory Wiggins notched 27 rushes for 126 yards and one touchdown and caught all three targets for 17 yards during Saturday's 34-31 overtime victory versus Louisiana.

Impact Wiggins found the end zone on a seven-yard scamper in the second quarter, tying the game at 14. The redshirt junior running back had his best game of the season, crossing the century mark for the first time all year while also adding a season-best three catches for 17 yards. Wiggins will finish the year with 468 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, adding nine catches for 77 yards through the air as well.
