Lands at Nebraska Sims announced Sunday via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to Nebraska, joining the program as a transfer from Georgia Tech. Impact Sims arrives at Nebraska will ample experience at quarterback, after he started in 23 of his 24 career appearances at Georgia Tech across the past three seasons. During that time, Sims completed 57.5 percent of his passes for 4,464 yards, 30 touchdowns and 23 interceptions while adding 1,166 yards and 11 scores on the ground. He'll have up to two years of eligibility to use beginning in 2023 and should be part of what will likely be a wide-open quarterback competition for the Cornhuskers with first-year head coach Matt Rhule at the helm. Incumbent starter Casey Thompson has yet to decide if he'll stick around at Nebraska in 2023, transfer elsewhere or embark on a professional career, while Chubba Purdy (ankle) could be part of the competition. Sims' 2022 season came to an end early due to a foot sprain, but the injury isn't expected to affect his availability for spring workouts.
