Impact Matthews ended Friday's matchup with a season-best 26 yards but it was not nearly enough to help secure a win for the Aztecs. The senior attempted to receive passes from three different quarterbacks throughout the game which definitely made it more difficult for him. However, his stats were consistent with what he's notched in the previous four games, so it does not seem to have greatly affected his overall outcome.

Just one catch in opener Matthews had just one reception for five yards on three targets in Saturday's win over New Mexico State. He also had one carry for six yards.
Impact Matthews was second on the team in targets as his low production can be likely more attributed to the struggles of the passing attack. Starting quarterback Jordan Brookshire was just 6-of-19 for 76 yards. Matthews should be a top target in the passing game if the Aztecs can get their air attack going.
